Why the panel matters
Every circuit in a building passes through the electrical panel. It distributes power and provides the overcurrent protection that keeps circuits within safe limits. When the panel is undersized, aged or damaged, the effects show up throughout the property.
Conditions worth evaluating
Breakers that trip repeatedly on the same circuit, a panel with no available spaces for new circuits, visible corrosion or heat damage, burning odors, buzzing, or breakers that feel warm are all reasons to have the panel evaluated rather than worked around.
Planned changes matter too. Adding a heat pump, a kitchen remodel or a finished basement increases demand, and the panel should be reviewed before that work is scheduled.
What an evaluation looks at
An evaluation reviews the existing service size, the panel equipment and its condition, how circuits are loaded and labeled, and the loads you plan to add. That combination determines whether the panel supports the property today and after the planned changes.
Opening or working inside a panel is not a homeowner task. Even with the main breaker off, parts of a panel can remain energized.
